Local Counties to Receive More than $36,000 in State Recycling Funds, Phillips Says
Northumberland and Snyder counties will be awarded more than $36,000 in state recycling funds, Rep. Merle Phillips (R-Northumberland/Snyder) said today.
“Recycling is an important part of conserving valuable natural resources and is an element of a growing industry to make new consumer products,” Phillips said. “I am pleased that our counties have successful recycling programs and encourage residents to do their part to reduce, reuse and recycle.”
The grants, funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection County Recycling Coordinator Grant Program of 1988, will be used to reimburse 50 percent of the costs of the county recycling coordinator’s salary and expenses.
Northumberland County will receive $24,635, and Snyder County will receive $11,945.
