Phillips, Fairchild Alert Educators to DEP's Environmental Education Grants
The Department of Environmental Protection is providing schools, universities, county conservation districts, nonprofit organizations and businesses with the opportunity to apply for 2010 Environmental Education Grants, said Reps. Merle Phillips (R-Northumberland/Snyder) and Russ Fairchild (R-Snyder/Union).
The grants provide funding to create or develop projects that support environmental education about sustainable energy sources and technologies, including solar, wind, geothermal and others, air quality, watersheds and wetlands, Chesapeake Bay watershed education, and carbon capture and storage.
Grants are awarded for up to $7,500. Since the program’s inception as a result of the Environmental Education Act of 1993, more than $7 million in grants have been awarded across the state.
Applications are available by contacting DEP’s Environmental Education Grants Program, P.O. Box 2063, Harrisburg, PA 17105-2063. The deadline to apply is Dec. 18.
